LGBTQ Teen Resources

"There are an estimated 637,000 LGBTQ-identified individuals among the adult documented immigrant population and 35 percent of documented LGBTQ adults are Asian or Pacific Islander."

- The Williams Institute

Although 60% of Americans now support LGBTQ relationships, attitudes on homosexuality remain less favorable in South Asia. Last year, a survey by the Pew Research Center revealed that 67% of Indian respondents rated homosexuality as morally unacceptable, with that figure skyrocketing to 85% in neighboring Pakistan.

While many coming-out stories involve tension among the family, LGBTQ South Asian-Americans Teens say they often feel the need to create their own, culturally-sensitive space.
